Frugal Fridays: Cheap Homemade Hummus Recipes

I decided to dedicate this week’s Frugal Friday to hummus because it’s a staple at our house, and I eat it with veggies, chips, pitas, and spoons. Hummus, by definition, is inexpensive because it’s mostly made of a frugal can of garbanzo beans; it’s easy to make and is an awesomely cheap protein filler. Here are three fun hummus variations that are easy on the old wallet.

#1. Roasted Garlic Hummus from Healthy Seasonal Recipes
Hummus. Zestified.

#2. Black Bean Hummus from Apron Strings
This is your basic hummus, plus black beans, lime, onion, and a little cayenne…only, it’s in a flower pot topped with black beans. Is it weird that I want to make this tonight, you know, not for a party…just for our own dinner?

#3. Butternut Squash Hummus from Fort Mill SC Living
Love the idea of putting a little sweet butternut squash in with hummus!
