‘Tis the Season…

…For weekend walks and ice cream.

On Friday night, we decided we all needed ice cream after dinner. We took a walk beforehand to let Owen burn off some energy. Mostly our walks these days consist of chasing Owen down from his never-ending quest to get into the street (you know, to be close to the ckas! [trucks] and bahs! [buses].
We also spend a lot of time pointing out and paaae!-ing every airplane that flies over, which happens approximately every 45 seconds. This is not the season for efficient walks.

Owen’s latest trick is to do this slow-motion fall, in which he ends up like this. On the pavement. #babiesarestrange

We finally made it to the Grand Ole Creamery, where we took turns sharing our ice cream with this little monster.  icecream Today, we’re thankful for the cool weather after a week of oppressive heat. Thankful for  peaches to make this crumble with. And thankful for the extra day to be together on Monday. Happy Labor Day!

  1. Sounds like fun!! I will have to try the peach crumble with the case of Organic Peaches I requested as my special treat upon my Hubby’s return from his 4 day extra-work-we-need-the-extra-money! I used to ask for candy, but times, and diet have changed, so I thought I would seize the moment! Peach crumble……My fave!
We spent the better part of the day wading through the ice cold river while finding wonderful rocks!
We made some homemade ice cream when we got home! 2 cans coconut milk, 3 egg yolks, 1/4c sweetener of choice, 3 tbsp. arrowroot powder, 1 tbsp. vanilla. Then when it was about to be done, I added in chunks of these SINFUL brownies I made last week:) http://glutenfreeonashoestring.com/super-fudgy-gluten-free-brownies/ (they are still delicious, as they are pretty much fudge!!)

    • Oh my goodness – that ice cream sounds amazing (and my GF sister loved the sound of those brownies you linked to)! A case of peaches – I think I’ll have to ask for that the next time Eric goes on a work trip :)

  2. That peach crumble sounds yummy. Do you have any recipes for plums my tree is going bonkers and I just don’t like them fresh. I’ve made jam and dehydrated some. And my son made a pie. But now we’re out of ideas.
